We recommend adjusting the following FreeCAD settings for the SpaceMouse:
- Navigation options
1. Navigate to the Tools on the top ribbon, then Customize…. and Spaceball Buttons tab in FreeCAD
2. We recommend setting the Flip Y/Z option to enabled
Flip Y/Z: With this option enabled, zooming is controlled by moving the cap toward/away from the user, parallel to the desk. With this option disabled, zooming is controlled by pulling up/pushing down the cap, parallel to the screen. - Buttons assignment
1. Disable the 3Dconnexion driver (in Windows Search type “stop 3DxWare” and click Enter) or in Buttons, in the 3Dconnexion driver, assign the function Disabled to all SpaceMouse buttons
2. Navigate to the Tools on the top ribbon, then Customize…. and Spaceball Buttons tab in FreeCAD
3. Press any button on the 3D mouse. The buttons in the left column “Buttons” should appear
4. Below the left column, select the device and press Reset
5. To connect a specific command with a button, select button on the left side, and its corresponding command on the right side
Reset: this button has two functions, it changes the device and restarts the assigned functions, so we recommend first selecting the device you are using and then assign the functions.
Please refer to the FreeCAD documentation for further information.
